Design:This was created with generative design - a process of setting up boundary conditions for the model (i.e. load cases, geometries constraints, safety factor, etc), and letting the computer generate a number of outcomes that satisfy all conditions with as little material as possible. Manufacture & Material:
This design is produced using additive manufacturing. Specifically, Stereolithography (SLA), which uses UV lasers to selectively cure layers upon layers of polymer resin to build the 3D object.
The resulting prints are extremely accurate (around ± 0.01 mm) with smooth surfaces, giving the generative design bone like appearance.
